The best battle royale games you can play in a browser
Battle royale is the hardest genre to squeeze into a browser. A deathmatch needs a small map and eight players. A battle royale needs an island, a plane, loot on the ground, a shrinking zone and enough people to make the last circle tense. Most browser games that claim the label cut at least two of those.
Here are six that are worth your time, sorted by how close they come to the real thing. One of them is ours, and we say so where it comes up.
What makes a browser battle royale good
- A real drop. Choosing where to land is half the game. If everyone spawns at random, it is just a big free-for-all.
- Loot that matters. You should feel the difference between landing on a rifle and landing on a pistol.
- A zone that forces movement. Without it, the last five players hide until the timer runs out.
- A full lobby, somehow. Either enough real players or bots good enough that the island does not feel empty.
1. Lobbystrike
This is our game. Its Battle Royale is first-person (or third, press V), with the classic structure: you fly over one of four islands, jump when you like, steer the fall, float the last stretch under a parachute and start looting. Solo, duo and squads of four are all there.
Two things set it apart from the other games here. First, the guns behave differently over distance. Inside 60 metres a shot lands instantly; past that, bullets take time to arrive and drop, so a long shot across a field has to be led. Second, you can run it as a private match. Make a room, invite three friends, fill the rest of the island with bots and you have a squad game with nobody else in it.
The catch: it is a young game, so public islands are mostly bots. If you want a hundred humans, this is not it yet.
2. War Brokers
War Brokers has been running a browser battle royale for years. The map is large, the look is blocky, and vehicles are part of it, which changes how the mid-game plays. It has an established player base, so you are more likely to meet real people than in most games on this list.
The catch: it looks its age, and the gunplay is loose.
3. Voxiom.io
Take a battle royale and let everyone dig through the ground and build walls out of blocks. That is Voxiom.io. Fights turn into quick fortification contests, and a cornered player can tunnel out. It is the most original game here.
The catch: if you only want to shoot, the building gets in the way.
4. Zombs Royale
Top-down and 2D, so not an FPS, but it belongs on any honest list because it gets the format right: big lobbies, a plane, loot rarity, a closing circle, and solo, duo and squad queues. It runs on anything.
The catch: top-down shooting is a different skill. No recoil control, no verticality.
5. 1v1.LOL
Best known for its build fights, 1v1.LOL also has a battle royale mode in third person. If your reason for playing is practising quick building and edits, this is the browser game for it.
The catch: the battle royale is the side dish. The 1v1 modes are why people come.
6. BuildRoyale.io
Another 2D top-down game, this one with building. Rounds are fast and it is very light on hardware. Good for a school laptop that struggles with 3D.

Tips that work in any of them
- Land somewhere boring for your first few games. Hot drops teach you how to die. A quiet town teaches you the loot and the guns.
- Move with the zone, not after it. Being early means you pick the position. Being late means you run across open ground into people who were early.
- Carry one gun for close and one for far. In Lobbystrike that could be an SMG or shotgun with a marksman rifle. Our weapons guide goes class by class.
- Heal behind something solid. Thin walls do not stop rifle rounds in Lobbystrike. Brick, concrete and containers do.
Questions and answers
Is there a battle royale I can play in a browser without downloading?
Yes. Lobbystrike, War Brokers, Voxiom.io and Zombs Royale all run in a browser tab. Lobbystrike is first-person with a plane drop on four islands and supports solo, duo and squads.
Can I play a browser battle royale with friends only?
In Lobbystrike you can. Create a private room with a password, share the invite link and fill the remaining slots with bots.
How many players are in a browser battle royale?
It varies. Top-down games such as Zombs Royale run very large lobbies. Lobbystrike rooms hold up to 64 players, including bots.
Will a battle royale run on a low-end laptop?
2D games like Zombs Royale and BuildRoyale.io run on almost anything. For a 3D game, lower the graphics preset first; big islands are heavier than small arenas.
